Beautiful Adventure...Through My Disaster

Beautiful Adventure...Through My Disaster

A Poem by Lissa

I had you,

but then you ran.

You ran fast,

as fast as my heart was beating

as you tore it from my chest.

If you were mine,

mine for real,

Fate will bring you back.

I wanted love,

more than the world.

Love was my world,

until it rejected me and ripped me up

while it broke a piece of my soul.

But like a muscle,

a torn muscle,

I grew back stronger.

When you ran,

you never turned around.

I was one turn behind you,

but you never came back to look

for me or for us or for what we could have been.

You taught me two lessons,

two lessons like coffee and vanilla,

bittersweet in my veins.

One--

yes I lost you,

but you lost me too.

Lost my smiles and my laughs;

you lost my kindness.

And though it will hurt,

you will lose my love.

Two--

Fate never brought you

back to me.

So you wouldn't have been

what I wanted, or what I needed

in the end anyways,

though you were an adventure.

You were MY adventure.

You were my first

kiss.dance.love.

You were my everything.

Until you were a heart-breaking disaster.

Then, you were MY disaster.

you were my worst

scar.vice.nightmare.

You were my unraveling.

But you made me think it was beautiful.

I needed you

like an addiction,

and I was your drug too.

Beautifully twisted,

that's how we were.

You were intoxicating,

like my 15th vodka shot.

You had me on my knees,

breathing just for you.

I had to

wake up sometime,

and see it was all a game.

I was your pawn,

insignificant and disposable.

But I stood up and stopped you

from using me anymore.

I shoulda seen it coming,

you didn't like the words "check mate".

You ran.

but no matter how fast you run,

you can't escape yourself.

You can't escape

love.nightmares.adventures.

No matter how fast you run,

you can't escape disaster.

very well written indeed!! love the differing fonts, but also the emotions you evoke here - the heartache, the longing and then the rejuvenation coming back stronger than ever!! nice!
