Should I tell him?
She watched her best friend make his way through the room, stopped to greet everyone for a while. She saw him smile & begin to laugh & watched as his baby blue eyes light up.
It will change things if I tell him. Big things.
She remembered back to when she met her best friend. He was the senior counsellor at the Summer Camp for Teens. He already had his summer girl. Then I came along. They were best friends now sure, but there was always something between them. He had been her first kiss & made her summer one she never wanted to change.
I have to tell him. It's not fair to me to carry this around everywhere. It's not.
So she started to twalk towards her best friend. He was talking ot another girl & didn't look interested at all. His eyes scanned the room every few seconds as if looking for a reason to leave. His eyes fell on hers.
Here it is. Now's the time.
She stopped in front of him, feeling the elecricity build between them. He bent his head low, to her ear, to speak over the music.
"Hey" he said, "you ok?"
She nodded. Having his mouth near her ear meant he was so close she could feel the fabric of his shirt on her cheek. She shuddered & shook her head to clear it.
He needs to know.
"Joey, I have to tell you something..." She looked up into his gorgeous baby blue eyes & opened her mouth to say those words that would eitther free her or ensnare her.
"I...I..uh...I" She couldn't do it, "I'm really glad I made it here on time"
He just smiled & turned to the call of his name.
I will someday. Some day you'll know.
She sighed & went to join the party.
