No crap

No crap

A Poem by Nathina Outright

The light turns to darkness,

The sun starts to fade.

I curl up in the corner

because I am afraid.

Suddenly, I hear his footsteps

here they come, my way.

"Please don't let him hurt

me!" Silently, I pray.

The darkness turns to light

as I look up at his face.

He says "You don't belong

here. I've made a better place."

"But, surely, you don't know me

or you'd see that I've been hurt.

I've grown up in a place like this

and dirt will turn to dirt."

The Lord came and knelt beside

me and, in his arms, I'm wrapped.

He held me close and whispered

"I don't make no crap!"
