Then I Remember

Then I Remember

A Poem by melanie j bean
"

Dedicated to my youngest son with all his energy keeps my old bones going.

"

Then I Remember

My sweet rest is invaded by a not so small still voice.

Do I go back to sleep? Do I have a choice?

I hear, "wake up! wake up! a storm is coming!"

I vaguely see a chaotic mass of leeward people running.

       then I remember...

Old ghosts rush into the dark crescendo of pain,

descending upon me like a wild hurricane rain.

They hover over me like a provervbial cloud.

I have to take cover from my heart beating so loud!

       then I remember...

A new day is forming in my early morning blur.

The mighty thundering is my little kittens purr.

The loud clap of noise, feet and laughter,

is my youngest son and our dog he is chasing after!

A sweet adventure . . .

I like this. Reminds me of pirate ships and ghostly deeds. Nice idea giving the impression of whats in the childs mind affecting his mothers sleep. Well done.
