elude me still

my fearful mind

betrays my will

my sense is powerless and trapped

behind anxiety

and senseless acts

to fear my mind and what it hides

denies me sanity and peace of mind

chaos reigns behind my eyes

confusion is my lullaby

and when i fall asleep at dawn

forgetting til' my mind is gone

the spiraling abyss proceeds to hound

me with memories and perfect years

protected from these conscious tears

for if i were awake to see

the dreary life surrounding me 

my mind and spirit would be twisted to perceive

the life i've wasted

and all that i have ever been, 

would crack and let the demons in
