living my dream

living my dream

A Poem by Adri Moolman

right there is where I want to be

so close yet so far

right there in the shining lights

singing my own song

I'm sick of being at the back

singing the ooohs and aaahs

all the way here at the back

sick of not having a chance

I'm probably not good enough

not worth it

but still I work everyday

to get where I need to be

One day it will be me

standing in that light

living my dream

singing my own song

Hard to be number one. Hard work to accomplish great things. We must tried. I like the energy and the hope in the poem. We need to sing our own songs and walk our own path. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

thx
This piece has an extremely powerful moral compass...you steer the reader toward the inevitable realization that when people work at something hard enough, anything is truly possible. You are already singing your song, my dear, and the lights will only get brighter the more that you grow. Well done!

Another valuable lesson from someone so young. I hope you get to sing your song someday.

I enjoyed the melancholy desire in this piece. Only thing I cringed at was using back twice in the same stanza; maybe rear?
