Cage

Cage

A Poem by meghna shukla

One summer morning........
A girl saw a bird
His melodious voice, she heard
She fell in love with him
hearing his song, her mouth wide in amazement.

She invited the bird to sing with her
the bird said yes and the world looked silver

Then she thought...........
he might want to visit some other place
which she would not be able to chase
fear of separation, surrounded her heart
she doesn't want him to be apart

She set a trap
he appeared after a gap
her dubiety was a waste
Now the bird was trapped and caged

She watched him every day
the environment never looked gay
She had it, the object of her passion
then took place a strong transformation

The bird was unable to fly
and his throat became dry
finally, he started to whine
his feather lost the colour and the shine

The girl didn't pay attention
even when the bird showed his contention
Summer flew away and arrived spring
happily, the girl asked the bird to sing

The bird didn't move, his colour turned pale
looking at him, the girl started to wail

then she realised
the bird died
she felt terribly sad
thinking of her intentions bad

Without the bird, her life lost its meaning
and Death came to her door intervening

Take away me breath
she said to death
I want to meet my bird
I plea for his love

Death replied -:
If you had never caged him
your love would have never grown dim
Now you need me sadly
In order to find him permanently

meghna shukla
I read this story in a novel and was deeply touched. I could not resist myself from converting it into a poetry.
