Thank You

Thank You

A Poem by meganwheeler

Thank You

I lay in a gurney, you by my side.

Your thick blond hair, those ocean view eyes.

Your military build, that paramedic uniform.

Looking sharp and honest,

You sat by my side.

You did not judge me, not out loud.

You tried to comfort me;

Saying it'll all be ok.

You tried to comfort me;

unsuccessful,

but you tried.

You stood at me feet to take me in.

You said good luck with a little grin.

You gave me a blanket and said “so u won’t feel exposed”

Wrapping it around my arms, like i was the queen.

I am the queen, with men carrying my chariot.

My gown, slipped down low.

When it began to fall, you made sure to lift it up because my hands were not free

I will never forget you, that painfully gorgeous smile

You were nice to me, treated like a criminal.

James, i think it was,

I hope you continue to transport the innocent-make them feel loved.

You read all my history, in that chicken scratch writing

You copied my history,

flowing through the pen into your arms.

The arms that released me and covered me up.
