Thunder and Lightning

Thunder and Lightning

A Poem by Drowning with Stars

Sometimes I watch the stars

So sure of where they are

And that's when I know

That we shouldn't be apart

But tonight the sky is filled with clouds

So let the rain fall with me to the ground

Let me scream

Like if God had given a voice to lightning

And let me break

The way the thunder does

When it gets to have a say

I hate knowing that you're miles away

Where you don't feel any rain

But I won't be alone, even if you don't need to miss me

Because this pain is always here to be my company

So let me scream

Like if God gave a voice to the lightning

And here I'll break

The way the thunder does

When it gets to have its say

Oh, let me scream

I can feel the lightning

And here I'll break

Under the words that I can't say...

I think it is a good poem. Good flow of images and emotions, a kind of gradual increase in the tension of the poet's voice. Thanks for sharing.

This comes across to me as song lyrics. I really like this.

Hey! This was such a powerful poem. I could feel the emotions flow through your words. I love how you likened long-distance relationships to thunder and lightning.

Great job. Keep writing!

About
What I love about poetry is that it's completely personal. Not only to the writer, but the same poem also means something a little different to every single reader, the same way a song is different to.. more..
