Irrational Spotlight

Irrational Spotlight

A Poem by Drowning with Stars

Why do they choose her?

Is there something I cannot see?

She's not so very different, so why do they fall at her feet?

Why is it that she gains so much more than all the others?

She's fine enough, I suppose, but why her?

I too, once offered her such praise.

I can't say myself what pulled me into such a state.

So who gave her that shine, and why does everyone follow along?

To me, she's nothing more than an overplayed song.
She's no more special than those left alone in the shadows of her spotlight.

Why is it that she's the only one handed the wings of a butterfly?

About
What I love about poetry is that it's completely personal. Not only to the writer, but the same poem also means something a little different to every single reader, the same way a song is different to.. more..
