"A Heart for Every Heart"

"A Heart for Every Heart"

A Poem by Drowning with Stars

As weak and helpless as I can get,
I've always been pretty independent.
I can handle pain, I can handle loss,
No matter what amount of devestation the cost.

I can make it through, I can move on,
Though the sentiment will never be completely gone.

But you, dear, have made a deep scar.
For better or worse, my favorite permanent mark.

I can't say what we were meant to be -

friends, lovers, family?

"A heart for every heart," I once heard.

Assuming that be the truth, I think perhaps you're mine and I'm yours.

I've been touched by many, that couldn't be more true,

But none have affected me the way you still do...

Very heartbreaking and lovely and relatable. My favorite lines were:
"But you, dear, have made a deep scar.
For better or worse, my favorite permanent mark."
That cuts deep because its so so very true. Nice work my dear!

About
What I love about poetry is that it's completely personal. Not only to the writer, but the same poem also means something a little different to every single reader, the same way a song is different to.. more..
