New Reflection

New Reflection

A Poem by Drowning with Stars
"

Have you ever made the same mistake over and over, hoping, praying that one of those times, it wouldn't be a mistake? I have.

"

Not at all long ago I thought,
"If only you were mine,

I just know I'd be fine.

Another kiss from you,

Surely, surely it would get me through."

The benefit of the doubt has always been my choice;

I wouldn't believe it until it was your voice.

But as it turns out, your silence is enough.

And letting you go, it no longer seems so tough.

You can stop feeding me that cruel false hope,

Those all-too-heartfelt lies.

There's finally something new reflecting off the stars in my eyes.

The sincerest of best wishes, I really do hope you had fun.

Because darling, this time I believe that I'm truly done.

About
What I love about poetry is that it's completely personal. Not only to the writer, but the same poem also means something a little different to every single reader, the same way a song is different to.. more..
