TimeA Poem by Meerie_EJLearning to love timeTime Oh, how sublime But not when pressed I find--when time is stressed gathering, scurrying to and fro 'ere time began my woe All men race against the grain Time, should for us be gain Like a race in which there seems no end Still my place in time I will defend Time Oh, how sublime. Even when repressed, I find--like day depressed. Time, you see, has strong claim over dawn and dusk, Leaving me behind, barely a husk. Day begins even when morning takes the place of night Early morning--when no bird can sing for lack of light. Oh, how I wish time could be stopped or reset, If only not spent. But Time, never will you relent. Time Oh, how sublime. My time now blessed, I thought--Time once oppressed but now I see, gifts you gave, even to my death You lead me to my final, aching breath Memories and the like, Time you see, Passes them on from you to me. Time, your gifts are sweet As my days are gone, treat though they were to me, memories given from thee are sweeter now, to reflect and sing, Than--when in those times--my laughter would ring. © 2018 Meerie_EJAuthor's Note
