Chapter Ten

A calming relief

It was about forty five minutes of torturous silence; the only sound was Neal calmly cooing to Nell beside me, Page was still tending to Rio’s injuries. The pod was an ellipse of aluminum; the interior was padded with red and black leather cushions in a checkered pattern. Rio cleared his throat.

“So where are we going, Nell?”

“Kino told me, he said that thought that something like this would happen, so he told me that he programmed the computer to take us to a safe haven, and other than just to take you guys there he said nothing more than that.”

“The only haven from the Iori, I have read about is a myth and I hope that it is true.” Page said like she tried hard not to blurt it out.

“If we have learned anything in history, is that most myths are real and must be protected and that is why they are myths.” I said with the upmost confidence.

“True, myths are a way to hide the truth, but make sure that we don’t forget them.”

            “You’re forgetting another big reason.”

            “And what is that.”

“It gives people hope and something, or some one to look to for help, or to find comfort.”

“You’re right Lee that is important.”

Pinku shot her head out of my pocket. “That is all fine and dandy, but you also forgot to tell us what pace is this myths is.”

“That’s the problem this place has no name except for the phrase the old world.

That made no sense the Old World was supposed to be were all the earths buildings, bridges, and land marks, when Yoai was made, reappeared. The sad part was that none of the structures survived the process, so most were unrecognizable.

I know of some of the structures names because Noai’s capital building is made in segments of the most famous structures from the first countries to accept us first, the Empire state building that branched out like the Eiffel tower half way down and in place of the antenna on top of the Empire state building was the Parthenon, in the center of the courtyard was a complete replica of the original stone hedge and other various other hedges from all over the world, to show you entered the courtyard the gates were made like the Roman coliseum, The outer wall was a shortened version of the Grate Wall of China. It was an amusing sight and might still be, if the city is still fixable.

That thought made me think of Kino and Gino and I began to feel my lip quiver, but I forced myself to remember, I remember Kino taking me to the capital and showing me the statues, telling me that they were forever there, and telling me that most of the Gods and Goddesses were the same as they were before Yoai was made, but every now and again one God gets too full of themselves and the others are forced to destroy them, it was not always that way they used to curse them to be stripped of most of their powers and become Iroi but they stopped after The Seven came to power.

Now it is only a dismal, empty place. Were only the lost souls of the past linger to tell their story, to record their history, and to offer help to those who deserve it. I bet that is why we should go there, to find help.

I fell asleep to pass the time.
