I taste blood

I taste blood

A Poem by M.E. Bergquist
"

Something I wrote the other day. I'm not very good at describing my poems, but I suppose it's mostly about resentment. My friend said she liked it...

"

Let teeth sink

Into the flesh of rainy days

As melancholy plays

Out a tune on severed heart strings

Let fangs rip

At the throat

Of another

Plastic reality

I taste blood

Everything you say

Makes me bite my tongue

Your happiness

Leaves me numb

Your misery

Makes me grin

Bare my teeth

I taste blood

Your misery

Illuminates my own

Melancholy

You can do nothing right

My standards are just too high

Everything you do

Makes me bite my tongue

I taste blood

This is really good! The symbolism of the blood is great, and it really gets down to the nitty-gritty instead of concentrating on filler, which this sort of poem with this sort of theme doesn't need. Well done!
