The Under the Floor

The Under the Floor

A Poem by Meaghan Rhymer

The very core of what lives underneath the floorboards of the flesh,

the insights to where heartstrings play melancholy music

as they narrate the lonesome path toward the brain,

up the daunting spiral spinal staircase.

Kidney graffiti and lung leather suit her armor

as she desperately uses t-cell talons

to battle up to the pillow clouds

of dreams in the skull attic.

This is a wonderful piece. I sense the allegory. I could also be wrong. Impressive imagery.
