The Truth

The Truth

A Poem by Meaghan
"

Moving on from a sociopath is more difficult than one might think.

"
Loving you was like
Being addicted to
The sweetest tasting poison.
I loved the way you killed me.
Leaving you was like
Being weaned off my favorite blanket,
With all of its rips and tears.
It no longer served its purpose.
Resenting you was like
Puttkng ice cubes
In a pot of boiling water.
The burn was less severe.
Letting go of you
Is walking across thin ice
Trying not to fall into a pool of my own thoughts;
Before I make it to higher ground
Where my heart
Resides safely.
