Choking on Breath

Choking on Breath

A Poem by Meagan

In this daily life- do you embrace pain or push it away?

What about joy?  Do you run towards it or run away?

Your deep desires- do they surface and bring fear, or do they inspire you to live?

Other people's hearts- do you strive to know and show compassion for their wounds, or do you conceal your own to keep others out?

Do you want to fit, by wearing a mask that resembles anything but the true you?

Do you let the chaos of this world suck you into it's vortex; always falling, drowning in it's constant darkness?

Do you feel as though every breath you take chokes you, leaving you to wonder which one will be your last and will finally take your life?

I feel all these things; I wear the masks, I hide my heart, I drown in fear, I wonder about death....  what else is there to do when the darkness consumes you?
