Alcohol

Alcohol

A Poem by Meagan
"

I have battled with alcoholism and addiction for a few years now... this is how I view it now.

"

I have this friend, he's as slick as a salesman with a new product line,

He's as soft as a feather when I am sad, yet turns to a snakebite when I get mad

He's Cunning, yet coy; Baffling, yet open; Powerful, yet gentle until his trap your're ensnared

He will sing you a lullaby as you sleep through the night, he'll scream in your ear untill you attend to his plight.

He'll love you then leave you, he'll be your best friend.  Untill something better comes along... he is the devil in liquid form.

I like how the poem jumps between not rhyming and rhyming. And I also like the fact that you refer to alcohol as if it were a person, it adds a very eerie feeling to your poem. I also like the conflicting words you use to describe the alcohol, "Powerful, yet gentle", definitely my favorite part.
