The Life I LivedA Poem by Save the Trees, Save the WorldI am from a small house On a busy street, Rooms crammed with people A place were strays are welcomed And walls seep with love
I am from the wrinkled skin of my grandma And mum’s corkscrew curls in the wind From a baby’s hand clutching mine And the thorn of the roses we picked
I am from the mournful song of the sirens Coming to take an angel-girls lifeless body away And the cries of my mum On a night when tragedy rings true
I am from the chocolate gravy on a Sunday morning And wild berries in the backyard From grandma’s sweat And mum’s sweet perfume
Like the ocean tide Life is always churning and changing But I will never forget The people I loved And the life I lived © 2011 Save the Trees, Save the World |
