Dear Daddy

Dear Daddy

A Poem by Save the Trees, Save the World
"

Just a simple poem about a not so simple relationship.

"

Dear Daddy,

It's your little girl

Well, I'm not so little anymore

We've never talked

You never write

You never call

You don't even know my name

Do you care?

Dear Daddy

Do ever wonder about me?

Do you wish you could've been there;

When I took my first steps?

When I said my first words?

Do you love me?

The way I love you?

Dear Daddy,

Yes, I'm mad at you

But not without reason

You left me before I was born

You weren't there;

To chase the monsters away

To tuck me in at night

To take me school

Not even once

Dear Daddy,

You think it's better this way

For you maybe

But what about me?

I'm older now

I know that wishes don't come true

And people let you down

So why do I still pray for you

Just like I'd pray you'd be home in time;

In time for my sweet 16

In time to scare all my boyfriends away

In time to walk me down the isle?

In time to my own child!

Dear Daddy,

I can't forgive you

For the pain you caused

And for the void in my heart

But daddy I can't forget you

Not even for a second

Daddy, I love you

If only you loved me

I have read similar poetry....until the last stanza. You have left me in tears. You have such a tender spirit...and this is exemplified in this write. I guess its not appropriate to give advice here...but If I may offer only one small piece....allow yourself to forgive and lay your burdens down. Your heart is so big. I am moved by your work.

What a powerful poem!!! Though it leaves you with a sad feeling, I really loved this poem. The style you chose and the almost alternating stanzas with how you think/wish for him, then the reason comes in. Very well done.

Omg, that was definitley deep. My heart just....omg! Just such an overwhelming feeling of emotions that went thru me. God, im so sorry this happened to you. U surely dont deserve to be treated like that at all. He shouldve known better. Being a father is so important. Especially for the daughter. U hit it right on the head here about everything. Jeez, im just so sorry u had to go thru that. I wish the clock could just turn back...for everybody. Wonderful poem, yet tragic. Great job here. *Hugs* :)

Yea some dads are really over rated. I didn't have one and it sounds like you are better off without one! You never forget your daddy but eventually you just move on and decide that you can just do without!

Oh, baby, you're better off without that daddy. Remember, just because he is your birthfather, does not make him a daddy. He is about as much of a dad as Blanca is my mom. Right. Beautifully written and heartfelt. I love you so much mrah!
