You Don't KnowA Poem by Save the Trees, Save the WorldOne of my favorite poems.
You don’t know my name You don’t know where I’m from You say I’m troubled, but that’s not true I’m confused I sit in my sulfurous home, all alone Trying to stop the pain You can’t judge me yet You don’t know how it feels How it feels to fall into a black hole How it feels to drown in your own salty tears To cry yourself to sleep and wish to never wake Do you? The whispers are like daggers to the heart If you stay silent I know you pity me If you speak out I know you wouldn’t understand I’m scared I pass through these streets like a ghost Never seen, only felt, I’m the one who screams, “Help me!” You can’t pass me by yet You don’t know how it feels How it feels To hate the face you see in the mirror How it feels To see your life shatter into a million pieces You don’t know how it feels To have your heart ripped out Do you? I’m the one you see everyday I sit by you in class You avoid making eye-contact with me Are you afraid my demons will attack you? You taunt me in the halls You call me names only whispered in the dead of night You kill me and you don’t even care You can’t stop listening now You don’t know how it feels How it feels to walk down a windy road, Kowing there’s no safe haven anywhere How it feels to forget the feeling of sun on your skin You don’t know how it feels Do you? When you’re finally in my shoes I won’t be there I’ll let you die like you did me Maybe now you’ll understand what its like to feel like me © 2008 Save the Trees, Save the WorldReviews
