Loved Nonetheless

Loved Nonetheless

A Poem by Michael Sun Bear
"

Longing for a daughter

"

Loved Nonetheless

Life denied me children

Yet I love a daughter.

Daily do I seek her,

Do I see her,

Her hair a thick river fall

Like May melt from the mountains,

Like ripe olives gathered

In a skirt are

The sweet color of her eyes.

So easy does she give her laugh

A sound like raven’s chuckle.

Tall and lithe she stands,

Newly now full woman.

So often she hugs,

Never fails to say

I love you.

Life denied me children

Yet I love a daughter.

This is profoundly sad yet beautiful and full of emotion that can only be love. I’m sorry you were denied this experience.
