Rice and Beans

Rice and Beans

A Poem by Michael Sun Bear

Poetry as nutrition

Protein Rice and Beans

Protein.

Essential to life.

Without meat,

Children of poverty,

Children of war,

Children of the streets,

Survived on rice and beans,

A symbiosis of nutrition.

A mate to love,

A best friend,

A circle formed of

More friends and family,

All essential to life,

All I have lost.

I survive here

Where we poets meet

In symbiosis of soul nutrition.

I write and read of

Rice and beans.

in your opinion and mine as well, the nutrition for poets is their writing and the exchange of writing among us…. we all learn from this special group of people who inspire us to pen… without the nutrition how would be sustained….luckily we have much nutrition in the Cafe….inspiration equals nutrition…. nice metaphorical write!
