Shamans All

Shamans gather here.
I warn you of their power.
With words they weave their spells.
You may find yourself transfixed,
Even find yourself transformed
Into grieving widow,
Perhaps a happy child,
Raven who brought Sun to man,
Hindu goddess Saraswati,
A stone, a river, flower, tree,
A sky of shooting stars,
Even corpse in the street.

Shamans gathered here
And left talismans of power.
What wish you my friend?
To run again, laughing
Through the fields of your youth?
To bed a woman, bed a man
Even know the feel of murder?
To know again that special Christmas,
Have grandma tell you one more story?
Perhaps a glimpse behind the veil,
Do you long to see the life to come,
Know the sea of Love
That gave you birth?
Do you long to just forget?

Name it my friend, for
Shamans gather here,
Shapeshifters with the power
To grant your every wish.

Such a lovely tribute to poets. If we can have that sort of effect we have far more power than we can possibly have imagined. Being able to transport readers to different places, unfamiliar situations, to stir emotions and so much more. This is a very generous and giving poem. I hope you get lots of readers MSB, I am

Hello MSB. I assure you that from my point of view your tribute poem came across in a positive light.. read more
Quite ticklish and also deeply moving to have poems, poetry and poets likened unto shamans. There is great power to yield, responsibility to bear and mesmerising awesomeness to experience at each turn and phrase.

Once upon a time, a crazy, talented poet from across the Salish Sea told me of an intense dream she experienced in which she was given a strange title for a poem, but nothing more. She felt it import.. more..
