I Am For the Desperate OnesA Poem by Joe Leaphorn
I am for the desperate ones
Those poor mad fools too curious for their own good Those lamenting tortured souls insistent upon unfettered thought The ones who ask "why?" The ones who seek to understand the world as it truly is and not through some pre-fabricated lens of rhetoric or paper-thin ideology I am for the tepid souls who know not where they came from Nor where they are going The sad ones, the lost and lonely Those poor timid fools, too afraid to speak of their dissatisfaction and restlessness I am for the desperate ones The ones who've not yet found their "calling" Or even know if such a thing exists The ones who silently fume at the seemingly endless bliss of a "beautiful" few Hear me! Oh poor, indecisive, brave, and intelligent beautiful ones Find your strength through me until such time as your own presents itself! Let me be your voice until the frog in your throat vacates I will be your guide until you are ready to be mine I will shoulder your heavy burden if you will but take my hand And you shall be as my sister, and I as your brother. And there will be not but love and understanding between us True love which knows not fear or possession. It is but compassion, warmth, and acceptance And fear not the mindless masses! Cast loose the shackles of their judgement! And follow the road less traveled Follow the dormant bravery which lies within your heart Be not afraid of what it tells you It is the only truth there is It is the only truth we need. It is the only truth that matters Never let your heart and mind be anything if not open Question Everything!!! I am for the desperate ones The lost and lonely, the sick and destitute The fearful doubters, malingerers and Those that do not mindlessly prostrate themselves to false authority Take my hand and we shall be as truest lovers and friends Never forget me, and I shall be your Champion And you shall be my Salvation © 2011 Joe Leaphorn |
