The Writers Reward

The Writers Reward

A Poem by Michael Corkill

The feeling I get when I write something down?

Hmmm, now let me see…….

The creation of humor or drama brings happiness or intrigue,

while serving as the mouthpiece of truth or wisdom is an humbling honor.

Make no mistake, I am a creator

I give life to many wonders as I build new worlds from scratch.

With the stroke of my pen I give life or death

to a character that will live on forever.

The writings of love, and lustful desire

can burn in countless hearts,

  uniting lovers forever without ending.

Whether endearing or enduring my verse will move you

and carry you to the places of your desire.

Truth and wisdom are my materials of choice

with these I can lead many to the light.

As for lies and deceit; they peddle no mercy

but promise selfish gain for the undeserved of humanity.

Clearly stated “I am at war!” to fight the good fight for freedom.

To enlighten the masses to the rewards of wisdom,

to comfort the beaten with love

and to free the prisoners of  denial with the truth.

I claim no glory for the truths I reveal

the truth is no mans creation.

The power I possess

is in the wielding of my words

for life or for death; creating good or evil

in the hearts of my readers.

A peddler of love,

and a despiser of hate.

May your joy abound freely,

in the words I create.
