Winter

Winter

A Poem by MCrouch

i can hear your name

i can see your heart

i can feel the dampness of your eyes

the rain will go away

the cemetery gates

will never look the same to me again.

the beautiful utopia of darkness

will take me in its threshold once again.

will you walk with me…

carry the shovel.

will i see crimson flooding through the gardens?

or will you cover scars before you go?

i need to see the end before the first fall of snow.

A piece where the pains of winter mirror the pains and horrors suffered to a man who silently wears scars on his heart (or a woman.) This piece was really moving--especially the part of "will you cover your scars before you go". That was a line that could make a man stop short and pause in reverence and respect for someone abused.

A wonderfully atmospheric and touching read. I throughly enjoyed every word. You have a perfect pace and flow to the poem and it has a very warming feel to it. Throughly enjoyed it

Love the rich usage of language in every well drawn line. It is reading this poem that summons my own muse to the surface.
