Duality - For Sarah & Kate.

Duality - For Sarah & Kate.

A Poem by Ben McKeon
"

A birthday present for two friends of mine about what it means to be a twin.

"

They say if you want to go fast, go alone,

But this life is fast enough.

Sometimes so much so that its pace can

Trip you up, leave you limping as you struggle

To shake off what's behind you.

But this life is not completely cruel either,

Gifting a shoulder so close to lighten the load.

A favour few are lucky enough to have,

Less still enjoy.

I can't, but we can.

With the company of your other-self,

Terra Nova becomes your domain.

Blood might be thicker than water,

But this still is thicker than blood.

A living mirror to project your image,

Your thoughts, your elevated ambition

Ad Astra, ad infinitum.

There is no alpha, no beta; only a duo,

Even and prime.

Never underestimate the power of two.
