I Have Fallen in Love with Late Summer AfternoonsA Poem by The Scholar"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying; And this same flower that smiles today Tomorrow will be dying." -Robert Herrick “To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time"I have fallen in love with late summer afternoons -- I cannot deny. With clear blue skies, and golden sunsets To watch all alone from my bedroom window, With the quiet breeze and the rustle of leaves And drifting gossamer catching a moment's sun, And the passers-by with their dogs every day Walking under my window -- and whistling -- With the songbirds that sing from a tree I can’t see And the laughter of children from somewhere below me, And the distant roar of cars -- speeding out there -- On the freeway -- in a hurry to be in some place at some time -- I don’t know where. But they gather their rosebuds not -- and miss what they may -- Yet perhaps they will find it some day -- O’ life, Before it is too late, and the flower is dying. But you see, I -- I have fallen in love with late summer afternoons, -- and they with me.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OUL23uBFlw
