BeforeA Poem by The ScholarJust a poem I had written a while ago to go with a fantasy book I had wanted to write. Before the path was ever trod, Before the perfectness was flawed, Before a page was ever turned, Before the evening fires burned,
Before the forests, steep and sweet, Grew tall upon the mountains’ peaks, Before the ocean’s rumbled roar, Was heard across the distant shore,
Before the creatures roamed the ground, Before the breath of fire was found, Before the polished midnight sky, Was specked with stars that glimmered high,
Before the aching cries of life, Were balanced on the bladesman’s knife, Before the earth had ever rung, With song that steel and iron had sung,
Before time was a passing trend, And every story had an end, Human hearts were swiftly rotten, And something vital was forgotten. © 2011 The ScholarAuthor's Note
