Unbounded

Unbounded

A Poem by Michelle Chiafala
"

Remind me how we are timeless.

"

I will run through streets slick with rain
until I arrive on your doorstep;
my hair wild around my shoulders,
and my dress damp, clasped to my figure
like a second skin.
Undress me and enfold me;
lie with me, my head upon your chest,
matching your breaths to my own.
Show me how my body has been contoured
to faultlessly align with yours.
I want all of this, and all of you.
I want the eventide and time immemorial;
the mornings and all hereafter.
This confession stumbles out of me
without hesitation, with a period
marked with a low outcry.
Remind me how we are timeless,
as you pull me in closer to you
until we share but a single heart.
