A Soul Severed

A Soul Severed

A Poem by Michelle Chiafala
"

We were infinite, and then we were cut in half.

"
Have hope, I’ve been told.

But tell me how can I have hope
when a love like ours burned out
and became nothing at all but
a ghost that visits me in my
darkest hours.

You were my hope;
more specifically, you and I.
We were infinite, and then we
were cut in half; two severed
ribbons crossed in the middle.
These frayed edges will not
connect me back to you.
