Slings and Arrows

Slings and Arrows

A Poem by M.C. Arnold

Once again my attempts fall short,
Ambition crushed under what you hail as logic.
Aah, I see now. Of course; I was wrong again.
I try to explain myself,
Searching for a single iota of redemption.
You deem my actions half-hearted.
Should "half-hearted" ever be truthfully applied to me,
It is because the other half
Has shriveled under the cowl of your scrutiny.
You know the strength of my soul.
Why, then, this latest affront that you label
Necessary?

I join the mice as I lament my latest failure.
Yes, I have a breaking point.
Keep going, you're almost there.

Author's Note

M.C. Arnold
One of my more...."passionate" pieces.

I think I was particularly ticked as some people (including myself) when I wrote this one.

Again, not a favorite, but certainly an attempt at an angrier tone.
