Ibanez -- For Jon Foreman

Ibanez -- For Jon Foreman

A Poem by M.C. Arnold

It stands proudly in the corner.
The melody that's been stuck in my head
Suddenly bursts into new, vibrant life.

A life that I could give.

A smile tugs at my lips as I look at the guitar.
It rewards me with memories -- reminders of a simple life.

My fingers aren't as limber as yours, but I'm trying.
My words lack the depth of your mesmerizing rhymes,
But I fill the page with scribbles.

My guitar sings along, either unaware or uncaring of the missing pieces.
A strum of the strings calms my heart.
Oh, the wonder I once felt!

Your melodies exploded with passion -- I savored it.
Your transcendent words brought me dreams -- I never forgot.

That beat up guitar helped me experience
The wonder you saw in life.
It became a medium ambition.

Perhaps I became something more...

Author's Note

M.C. Arnold
This is not my favorite poem, but perhaps one of my more personal ones. A fun piece of prose dedicated to one of my biggest inspirations for writing.

Comments welcome, as always!
