Thirst

Thirst

A Poem by Madeline Capo

I want your stomach to touch my lower back as we lay on our sides
like a newborn searching for the milk of her mother with closed eyes
we are puzzle pieces that click into place with soft movements and no effort

your hands slide down
down
slowly
from the mountain of my breast,
to the forest beneath

there is a freshwater well waiting for you there
and you drink with haste like you have been parched for your entire life

my hands fold above my head
in the shape of a volcano
our breaths are synced

i want you to take mine with you, away
forever
