we lie there in the middle of the green frilly carpet,
the humid night a blanket,
warming us.
my head on your shirt covered chest,
but still able to feel the muscles.
your arm wrapped around me,
hand lighty placed on my hip.
it was my dream to do this,
to look at the stars on a football field.
now the wish is reality.

i look at you and smile.
you turn to look at my face
then kiss me,
your lips soft on my own.
a simple, short, sweet kiss.
I blushed when it ended,
turning back to the stars.
when i did,
a shooting star
leaped across the sky
like a horse galloping.
i knew at that moment
you,
only you,
were the one,
