Soccer

A Poem by mbg

Waiting

Rush of nerves

Get into position

Focus

Start at whistle

Adrenalin rush

A lot of energy

Defense

Block the ball

Kick it far

Midfield

Use skillful footwork

Move the ball up

Forward

Push through

Look for an opening

Aim

Score

Two times of whistle

Halftime

Ten minute break

Thirsty

Water

Pep talk

Back on field

Start at whistle

Block ball but miss

Midfield to back

Help defense

Shot on goal

Keeper

Block and catch ball

Goalie kick

Kick it far

Be more aggressive

Out of breath

Tired

End at three whistles

Put your full heart into game

Covered in mud

Hair out of place

Sticky with sweat

Win your heart clenches

Smile huge

Scream with excitement

Lose you’re disappointed

Know you did well

Will do better next time

Both teams

Line up on field

Facing other team

Walk towards them

Clap each other’s hands

“Good game”
