The Leap

The Leap

A Poem by Mark Best

Fate opens the door,

That stands in front of me,

And beyond is no floor

But a pit open and free

On the other side, there is a beauty,

Dark yet free

In her heart is a love,

That I long to engulf me

Leap I think,

But should I fall?

Leap I think,

Leap for it all

But fear undertakes me,

What if I fall?

Will she just stand there,

Or will she risk it all?

I want to ask her,

Can we be true?

I want to ask her,

But I’m afraid of her words too

What if she just stands there,

Then I will fall.

But I want to leap,

Leap for it all.

I really like your repetition of "leap". It reminded me of when I am ready to do something and I start, then draw back, then start, draw back...till finally something just says "time is right". Nice job. :)
