Unconscious Tryst

Unconscious Tryst

A Poem by MiR

I stand here shifting nervously,
Staring at the ground
I can read it in your eyes
You’re unsure of what you’ve found

I’m a total wreck around you
Trust me I am aware,
But you smile at me warmly
With an unpretentious stare.

I’ve thought about you often
Though we’ve never met before
And prayed for one to look at me
The way your eyes adore.

There is magic in this moment
Like the sweetness of a song
When everything falls in perfect rhyme,
I know you’ve loved me all along.

I want to keep this feeling
All the flutters in my heart
The emptiness I once had felt
Is filled now part in part.

Suddenly there’s a buzzing noise
And I awake to my alarm
You were just another dream
My mind had meant no harm.

For a moment I recall your face
Then it’s lost in the scrambled sea
Packed away with the dreams before
You’re in good company.

The emptiness returns to me
As I prepare to face the day,
But maybe if I’m blessed enough
I’ll find you along the way.

Incredible! What a beautifully honest poem that draws your reader into the blessed ache of a dream-filled heart. I love the hopeful twist at the end. Thank you for sharing, Mir!
