Compare NotA Poem by MiR
I compared myself to others
Though they pleaded for me not And when given what I coveted I was discouraged with what I got I realized I was happier Before jealousy could imploy Upon the articles I lusted for And comparison stole my joy I then threw away the fragments Of which once I thought were jewels And polished up my own fair mite Made fine again by tools I then surveyed my kingdom Though humble be it’s worth As told by wiser ones than me To learn from time of birth “Compare not yourself to others, Do not crave another’s gold, Or you’ll never find true happiness” That’s how the proverb’s told © 2024 MiR |
