Moon and Widow

Moon and Widow

A Poem by Madhur Batra

The moon, cast away behind black clouds
Like a widow, hidden beneath dark shrouds
In the sky, a moment of light, a glitter of white
Her face shines, so radiantly bright
Taken for granted, illuminates my dark path
I'd do anything to, once, make her laugh
Can't help but stop and stare
How can they be so beautiful and fair?
