Goldie and the Three Vampires

The forest was a mysterious place for young Goldie, who had been forbidden to go in there ever since she could remember.  Goldie would often spend hours sitting on the back porch, just staring into the woods and wondering, what terribly awful things could inhabit them.  I’m brave, and strong, and smart, thought Goldie.  I can handle whatever lies deep in the forest.

It was this Goldie was thinking as she snuck out one cold October night when she was sure that the rest of her family was sleeping.  Goldie went unseen, unnoticed.  She wore only her pink bunny slippers, a nightgown, and her robe.  She paused where her backyard and the forest met.  She looked back at her warm, cozy home.

No. she told herself.  She would not turn back.  She had a mission, to see what was in the forbidden woods that was so bad that she was not allowed to go into it.  I am going to complete this mission, she told herself.

Then she ran into the woods.  After what seemed like hours she slowed and then finally came to a stop.  Goldie realized with a sinking and cold, raw fear that she was lost.  Lost in the forbidden woods, in the cold, at night, and nobody but herself knew.  She pulled her robe, filthy with twigs, dirt, and leaves, tighter around her as the cold air inched inward towards her heart.  Goldie walked, hoping to meet the end of the woods instead to stumble upon a cottage.

What a cute cottage. Thought Goldie.  Oh goodie she thought as the front door opened and a wave of warm air and a sweet smell filled her.  She stepped in and closed the front door.  I will just stay for a little bit, Goldie said to herself as she flipped on the lights.  I could start some stew.  Goldie opened up cupboards only to find that they were empty.  Thats odd though Goldie, for it looked like somebody had lived here recently and was gone for the evening.  They are probably grocery shopping thought Goldie.  But then, there were no roads that led to here.  Who would want to live in the middle of the forbidden woods, secluded and in the middle of nowhere?  Goldie wandered to the kitchen table where she found the paperback version of Twilight.  I will just read the first chapter of two, thought Goldie, then I will leave.  There were three chairs set around the one round table.  Goldie sat in the one closest to her and noted in shock that this was the tallest chair she has ever sat in.  Goldie moved on to the chair next closest to her but it wasn’t much better.  The last chair Goldie sat in was just right.  But just after reading the first page where Bella leaves Phoenix to live with her dad in Forks, the chair broke.

“Ow!” Goldie cried as she hit the hard tile floor.  I need to rest she thought.  I will just go up to the loft to see if there is any beds, rest for a few minutes, and then I will leave.  Sure enough there was three beds in the loft.  They each had a name engraved in the headboards.  The first one said Hallman.  That bed was too hard.  The second bed said Nala.  That one was too soft. The last bed said Janice, that one was just right.  Soon Goldie drifted into a heavy sleep.  Goldie awoke with a start realizing that whoever occupied this cozy cottage… was home.  Her mind drifted to her mother’s warnings about the forest. About how people would wander in there and never return.  Her friends had told her about the rumored vampires that lived in the woods.  No food though Goldie, vampires don’t need food, they need blood.  The copy of Twilight.  The way these beds felt as if they have never been slept in before.  Vampires.

“MY CHAIR!” screamed a high pitched ladies voice.  Vampires don’t exist, Goldie told herself over and over again as she lay frozen in Janice’s bed, but deep down inside her, she knew that Hallman, Nala, and Janice were vampires.  “Whoever did this to my chair is going to get it!” The lady screamed.

“Relax Janice,  the chair was old, it was going to break soon anyways.”  said another females voice that sounded slightly annoyed.

“Hmmmm”  A mans voice that sounded like honey said.  “ It seems we have a little visitor, she is in Janice’s bed up in the loft.”  Goldie couldn’t move.

“ The one that broke my chair is in my bed!” Shrieked Janice.

“Just wait Janice…” the rest was too low for Goldie to hear but the next thing she knew a beautiful blonde women with yellow eyes and pale skin was smiling down at her.

“Oh, Hallman, Janice, she is just a little girl.  The man Goldie assumed was Hallman walked over to stand next to the blonde women, Nala probably.  The man, Goldie had to admit, was extremely handsome with fair brown hair, pale skin, and yellow eyes.

“What is your name, my child?”  Asked Hallman.

“Goldie.”  Goldie croaked.  Janice laughed.

“Her name is Goldie!  Might as well name me Ginger, and Nala Blondie and Hallman molasse!”

“Why are you here Goldie?”  Hallman asked.

“I, uh, went into the woods alone and I got lost and found here and I was super tired but I didn’t mean to stay long..”

“But you did!”  snarled Janice.

“Janice please.”  Hallman said

“Let her go Hallman.” Nala said

“Don’t let her go, she is mine!” shrieked Janice as she crouched down as if she were about to pounce.  A menacing snarl ripped out of Janice’s throat.

“Goldie, we will let you go if you never set foot in the woods again and if you never speak of this night again.”

“I promise” Goldie said.

“If you don’t I will hunt you down…”

“Janice!” Nala yelled

“Go.” said Hallman. That is when Goldie died.  Janice pounced on her as she was about to leave the loft.  Goldie shrieked as Janice sank her teeth into her and as Nala and Hallman screamed at Janice.  Goldie is yet another example of somebody who went into the forbidden woods and never returned.
