The Corner

The Corner

A Poem by Mayukh Das
"

Life as we know it.

"
I stand in that elusive corner,
I see them
but no one sees me;
Hungry, thirsty mad men
Fighting for the half-filled glass
That no one's ready to share,
Its raining outside
But no one seems to care.
From that elusive corner I see-
But no one sees me.

In this violent battle,
Where man is eating man -
I kept to the corner,
No ideas no plan.
The fight is dreadful and long,
One big psychedelic song,
My eyelids growing heavy,
When suddenly,
The glass fell down and broke!!!!
Oh no!!

The madness is gone,
Whats left, is dejection and despair,
Hands on their heads and tears rolling down,
That cannibalistic frenzy
Is now a sublime prayer.
In such sad heavy air,
I hear a harsh sound
The culprit has been found.
The fight starts over again,
In this  amputated food chain,
No one looks outside,
And no one looks at the corner,
All they wanted
Was that half-filled glass -
No one cares about the rain.
