When she leavesA Poem by Mayukh DasDurga puja is one of the most important festivals among the bengalis. Ma Durga stays with us for 5 days. But on Dashami she leaves and the pain we feel is hard to describe.
She came, she stayed,
For five days We played; We danced and we sangWe stood dismayed When she left. What joy she brings Felt I had wings, Of worries and sorrowsNo, nobody thinks And she left. She'll come back again Yet, So much pain She's gone, I come backThis dark shabby lane Oh! she left.I don't know what hymns to say I don't know how to pray With tears held back at the corner of my eye, With a heart full of pain and a deep long sigh, I bid you goodbye; Even if its a dozen months or more, I'll be waiting for sure. © 2010 Mayukh Das |
