What is this? What is this?

What is this? What is this?

A Poem by once upon a time

The red, the white, the blue and the stars
Meant for just one thing
Both seen from near and far
Hear the ring of the Liberty bell
And hear what they have to say
Hears our prayer, and see our tears
On this veterans day

When they fall the ground bleeds red
Their eyes open, cold and dead
Bang! Bang! Shot after shot
The pounding of feet on the ground
What is this? What is this?
It is the war that they fought

They love when they're here
We cry when they're gone
They did noble things
And their hearts will go on

We have but one thing to say
We honor you today
What is this? What is this?
This is veterans day.

Author's Note

once upon a time
I wrote this about a year ago in my history class. We had to write a poem for Veterans day and this is what I came up with.

Very nice piece, very patriotic, but make sure you check your spelling and grammar. It really detracts from the piece if you don't, because it distracts the reader from the actual content of the poem. You've got a very nice concept here and you've expressed it well - just tighten it up a little and it'll be great.
