The TimeA Poem by Maya DowIn my English class, we are reading Macbeth. Our teacher had us write a sonnet like Shakespeare. This is what I wrote.
The candle of your essence slowly burns
You’ve done nothing but kiss your life goodbye And as the powerful hands of time turn, You see you can’t do anything but cry. Close your eye and open your tender mind. Life for you and I has only begun Grab every chance you see, don’t fall behind. Just remember, you’re not the only one. You may not know the rules to this old game, But you and I unwillingly still play. Some strive for glory, others strive for fame. You and I strive to live another day. The time has come, time to make a new choice. © 2012 Maya DowAuthor's Note
