PrologueA Chapter by Brody ChildsThe world is
gone. Fire rained from the sky all across the world. No one knows
where it started first. We do not even know who fired or hid. There
are tales of monsters being released and whole countries that lost
power. Although, in the end it doesn't really matter; it's all
ancient history to us now.
It has been about 27 years since the day the world burned. To be blatantly honest, the world seems better off with our destruction. Nature is starting to take hold again, but some places, like the Wastes, are empty shells of what they once were. Humanity has also taken a hold here in this new world. Settlements have sprung up just about everywhere. They range from peaceful herders to brutal raiders to simple people trying to pull the old world back together. While some try to relight the old world's flame, some are trying to reinvent the future. And even still others just try to make life miserable for everyone else. One of the major settlements that has sprung up is the Commonwealth. This group is a religious cult that absorbs all societies they come across and if one refuses to join them their destruction becomes imminent. There are stories about how whole towns were wiped out and destroyed after refusing to join the Commonwealth. Once they absorb a town they go about collecting all of the inhabitants be it animal or person. They then go about cataloging all of their “citizens” and put them to work in a myriad of dangerous jobs. These can be from working in the mines to running a nuclear plant with no radiation gear. Many joke that their motto is “Everyone's expendable.” Remnants of the world's governments have also survived and are operating around the clock to destroy the Commonwealth and to pull their respective countries back together. The world's “peace” is starting to deteriorate now that people are becoming reorganized. Many fights have broken out but only a few have left a mark on the world. This book will contain the best stories I can find about this new world. Hopefully, one day this will be in the hands of someone who can read and understand it and, in turn, will be able to pass it on when the time comes.
