Creepy Crawlers

Creepy Crawlers

A Poem by Mav
"

One of those little fears that seem to follow some of us into adulthood. This one was inspired by my niece and her acute arachnephobia.

"

      Creepy Crawlers

The room so dark I could not see
What it was that crawled on me
I felt it first upon my leg
not a spider, please I beg

I could not move, in fear I froze
oh God don’t let it be one of those
Eight legged creatures that I fear
go on bug get out of here

It made its way up my thigh
I stiffened up and closed my eyes
I feel it now upon my hip
Fear now tightened up its grip

How could I be scared of one so small
It wasn’t right no not at all
there is another on my arm
now two of them to bring me harm

One moved up and crossed my chest
this creepy uninvited guest
My heart now pounded loud and clear
I knew my end was surely near

They’ve come together on my neck
their venom surely to inject
Then they left, they did not bite
I would live another night

I got up and checked my bed
There’s nothing there to myself I said
It must have been though it didn’t seem
It must have been a bad bad dream

*Shudders* I'm fine with all other types/sorts of bugs... except spiders! They are so creepy, crawly, and, well you know. You explained it all in this poem so well, I'm really impressed how you formed the exact words that can explain spiders. This was a really great read, and I hope to read more of your work!
