Soul Mate

Soul Mate

A love that couldn't be

       SOUL MATE

I feel I've found my soul mate
But I fear it may have come too late

I have another, and so does she
How could the fates let this be

My heart's fire she does fuel
How could this life be so cruel

Her beauty and charm have captured me
In my heart she'll always be

The pain will never go away
The ache for her will always stay

Locked inside for evermore
Because ‘tis she that I adore

From my thoughts she's never far
My heart will always bear the scar

My soul mate I will ever miss
Her luscious lips I'll never kiss

I'll love her ‘til I'm in the grave
Then for eternity I'll be a slave

To the love that couldn't be
From my soul mate never free

This is really sad. I felt like that for 38 years. He was my soulmate, my first and only deep love. No one could ever take his place. I never thought I'd have love like that again. I would never have a soulmate I decided. My first husband died, second husband removed by police for beating me. I decided to stay alone until the children grew up. I was happy for 21 years. Then my parents died 9 months apart, their memorial was posted in my high school quarterly magazine. He ( he that I longed for for 38 years..my soulmate) called the high school, and asked if they'd write me for permission for him to contact me. After 38 years still had the same butterflies in my stomach, and fire in my heart for him that I did when we dated way back then. But...when we talked and met...he was still handsome and sexy...educated and fun...but...something happed to him..his heart wasn't right. He had hurt many girls... along the way back to me...although wealthy...he talked to much about all he had..all he did...what he owned...but he didn't bear his soul like before.. he was self absorbed and conceited. Maybe the pain of his past.. stripped his fire from him also...I don't know. All I know is that for me... the fire died...he wasn't what I wanted after all.
I Thank God now...because 3 months later my real soulmate was brought into my life..over the internet no less.. We have been married for 3 short year...I say short because time is flying by...we are so happy and the joy of loving my real soulmate is easy...our love is easy...I have never had this kind of love....he is my hearts desire.

Love's cruelty expressed by a willing open hearth is great, even if it is penned in simple words.
The truth is rarely satisfying, and love rarely pleasure. I like it.

The frustration really comes through here..A true soul mate will always meet you life after life...It can be maddening in this one though! Great write!
